Dear AMDP Friends,

As was announced on stage at the Harvard Club of Boston during our annual Summer Reunion in July, and reiterated in this month’s newsletter, our AMDP Alumni Association formalized this year after a decade of nurturing our relationship with Harvard. We have two legally registered non-profit entities—

  • One designation allows us to promote our common interest as Alumni of AMDP.

  • And another designation allows us to fundraise for charitable purposes.

These designations became necessary after having been charged with organizing our AMDP Summer Reunion in Boston, and annual Global Gathering, which is held in a different city each year. As volunteers, we are currently working to establish the Bylaws of these two organizations, and we kindly ask for your patience as we work through those details.

We were very excited to introduce our AMDP WhatsApp Community, as well as amdpalumni.com, because we know how eager everyone has been to connect with each other. However, we may have short-sightedly launched these platforms prior to establishing and communicating guidelines that will ensure we continue to operate in the good faith that has been demonstrated over the last ten years.

This is our fault, and we ask for your forgiveness as we work through these growing pains.

As we establish formal guidelines, we need to set two immediate responsibilities that we all, as participants in this community, must uphold.

Privacy

As participants in our WhatsApp Community and amdpalumni.com, we all have access to each other’s personal data, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. It is every participant’s responsibility to keep that data private, and not to add people to communication channels that they have not opted into joining. This includes:

  • Adding any participant to an email distribution list that they have not opted into joining.

  • Adding any participant to a WhatsApp chat outside of the AMDP WhatsApp Community that they have not opted into joining.

  • Any other group communication that the participant has not opted into joining.

  • And sharing any participant’s data without permission.

We have had complaints that this has occurred, and we sincerely apologize to those who have been impacted. We ask that everyone respect each other’s privacy, and refrain from this behavior moving forward.

Please note that respectful one-to-one communication between participants is permissible and encouraged! The purpose of these platforms is to facilitate connection.

Finances

Since launching the AMDP WhatsApp Community, and amdpalumni.com, there have been several local meet-ups spawned from the connections made on these platforms. That is wonderful, and very much encouraged! There are also, in most cases, expenses associated with facilitating such meet-ups.

Our formal AMDP Alumni entities are not engaged with expenses for these local meet-ups. The responsibility of collecting any payments needed to facilitate these meet-ups lies with the local participant who is organizing. We ask that all participants, both organizers and attendees, act in good faith with each other as it pertains to these necessary transactions.

Also note that any local fundraising efforts for purposes beyond covering the expenses associated with facilitating a meet-up should not be held under the AMDP Alumni banner without participation from our legal entities.

We ask this to ensure transparency.

Finally, it is important to say we are not an arm or affiliate of Harvard. We are permitted to operate as an independently-organized affinity group. If we overstep these boundaries, we endanger our relationship, which took many years to establish.

In its current iteration, the AMDP Alumni Association hosts two formal events each year:

  • The Summer Reunion, along with a dinner at Harvard Club of Boston, including both the incoming and outgoing AMDP classes.

  • The Global Gathering, taking place this next year in New York City, April 12-14, 2026 directly following Harvard’s annual Real Estate Symposium (save the date, more details to follow.)

All other meet-ups are independently organized between participants. We ask that everyone please uphold our participant responsibilities in their dealings with each other.

If you wish to host a meet-up, the best place to start is in our WhatsApp Community. Again, please do not add participants to distribution lists of any kind unless they have given you permission to be contacted regarding that specific meet-up.

As we go forward, we will share other responsibilities that will ensure a transparent and respectful community for all participants of AMDP Alumni, as well as a continuous stable relationship with Harvard.

With friendship,

The AMDP Alumni Leadership Team
