Welcome to the very first edition of the AMDP Alumni Newsletter! This email was crafted with love by your AMDP Alumni Association leadership team.

Who’s on that team, you ask?

The AMDP Alumni Association is a 100% volunteer-led organization, established with the blessing of Harvard over many years of intentional relationship-building with the administration. It is composed of two legal entities:

⬛ AMDP Alumni Association, CORP — This is a 501c-6 organization, established for the purpose of helping alumni maintain connection through initiatives such as our reunions, our website, our WhatsApp Community, and Harvard’s Online Learning Community.

⬛ AMDP Gives, CORP — This is a 501c-3 organization, established for the purpose of charitable giving, such as the AMDP Memorial Fellowship, an endowed scholarship program we began work on last year with the support of Dr. Rick Peiser. 🗞 Reunion News: Save the date for our next International Gathering in New York City, April 12-14, in conjunction with Harvard’s annual Real Estate Symposium. The Symposium will take place a quick train ride from NYC in Boston on April 11, so you can conveniently participate in both!

💻 Online Learning Community: A virtual Zoom session featuring one of Class 25’s best Indy Projects is happening on October 2!

🌐 AMDP Connections: NEW to our WhatsApp Community — regional hubs! These will help alumni facilitate more in-person meetups, and localized conversation.

🤝 Partnership Corner: Wes Myles & Brian Murray from Class 21 have partnered to bring killer opportunities to other AMDP alum!

✈ Community Roundup: Air rights as an asset class, investment and co-development opportunities, help an alum out with your unique expertise, and more!

A longstanding request from AMDP alum has been to coordinate a gathering in conjunction with Harvard’s annual Real Estate Symposium.

And we heard you! 🙌

Next year’s Symposium will take place on April 11, 2026. We are thrilled to invite everyone to gather just south of Boston in New York City following the Symposium on April 12,13, & 14.

We are putting together a program that will feature tours & talks of new and revitalized developments, cultural activities, and plenty of time to relax and unwind together. It’s the perfect add-on to your Symposium visit!

Last month, over 40 AMDP alumni spanning from Class 1 to Class 24 gathered in Boston to connect with each other, and with Classes 25 & 26.

The Online Learning Community (OLC) was initiated by Harvard with support of the AMDP Alumni Association to help alumni continue the academic, thought-leadership, and innovation initiatives that were sparked during their time in AMDP.

The OLC hosts exciting virtual Zoom sessions that foster learning, connection, and collaboration — and all alumni are invited to participate!

To help facilitate more of these kinds of connections, we have added some location-specific hubs in regional areas where we have a high density of alumni to our AMDP WhatsApp Community!

The bottom line is this:

We want everyone to be able to easily connect with each other, and build deeper relationships — whether that be with local alumni, or friends around the globe. And as long as we all collectively operate with transparency, and respect each other’s privacy, the AMDP Alumni Association can continue to provide platforms that facilitate these connections.

Originally launched in Toronto 12 years ago, Clifton Blake (not a real guy, but we save him a seat at the bar regardless) has grown into a billion-dollar AUM private equity real estate development and commercial lending firm.

Clifton Blake’s founder, Wes Myles (Class 21) is an accomplished entrepreneur who’s been building businesses for two decades. You might recognize him from his critically acclaimed performance as “the guy who picked up the tab for everyone at The Liberty” last month (thanks again, pal). 

But Wes was never actually supposed to go to AMDP.

He had picked up a different tab for one of Clifton Blake’s executives to enroll in the program — what a generous guy. But when that exec resigned, Wes thought, “Well, f*** it, I’ll go.” (Direct quote. And a common sentiment among many of us when making the decision to enroll in AMDP. 😉)

Thank heaven things worked out that way, or Wes would have never met Brian Murray (also Class 21).

Brian, then a Senior Managing Director at Cushman Wakefield, was running a 250-person team and rethinking life during the COVID shutdown when he made the decision to enroll in AMDP. 

Both Brian and Wes were seasoned, battle-tested operators with a deep background in complex capital structures — and both were looking for what came next. So it wasn’t long before they recognized their overlap in values, experience, and execution style. 

“You can tell in class who’s really done the work,” said Wes. “Brian just got to the point — he knew the business. And he had integrity.” 

The feeling was mutual: “I could tell Wes had built something real,” said Brian. “And I knew I wanted to work with him at some point.”

“Some point” happened pretty darn quickly. 

Today, Wes and Brian are partners, and have successfully launched Clifton Blake in the U.S., starting with a $300M mortgage fund focused on short-term bridge financing opportunities with proven operators and developers. They’ve even enlisted another Class 21 alum, Roman Petra, as their legal advisor!

Wes and Brian aren't just raising capital — they’re offering a platform. 

Clifton Blake has built the infrastructure (licensing, compliance, Cayman feeder, capital networks, underwriting team, the works) and they want fellow alumni to plug in: invest, co-GP, bring deals, or just trade war stories.
